A tribal man was brutally assaulted and compelled to pose like a “murga” (chicken) on Sunday. The incident happened near Subhash School in Madhya Pradesh“s Betul and victim has been identified as Raju Uikey. As per the NDTV report, Raju, who works as a DJ, was subjected to physical violence and casteist slurs by a group headed by Chanchal Rajput, an alleged member of Bajrang Dal.

The incident caught on camera and the disturbing visuals went viral on social media. State Congress President Jitu Patwari posted the video and the circulated video evoked outrage and condemnation among netizens.

Jitu Patwari, in his post, snubbed the recent speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the upliftment and respect of tribal people with the stark contrast of their situation in the state.

In the video, it can be seen that Raju Uikey is repeatedly beaten by Chanchal Rajput, who subsequently forces him to sit in a “murga” pose. Even when Raju started bleeding, the group continued with the attack.

Raju says: “At around 11:30 pm, while I was on my way home, I was picked up near Subhash School by Chanchal Rajput and his Bajrang Dal friends. They assaulted me physically and verbally, and used casteist slurs against me,” NDTV reports.

Following, Jitu Patwari”s post and social media reactions, Police quickly lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Chanchal Rajput and the three others.

Betul Superintendent Of Police (SP) Siddharth Chaudhary said that investigation is progressing and the perpetrators will be caught soon.
