Man Kills Girlfriend In Bengaluru For Rejecting Marriage Proposal

In yet another tragic incident, a 32-year-old man from Bengaluru murdered his girlfriend in public after she refused to quit her job and marry him. The assailant, named Girish, also known as Rehan Ahmed, who fled the scene initially surrendered at the nearest police station after killing his girlfriend by stabbing over 15 times at the Shalini Ground in Jayanagar V Block.

The incident happened on Saturday after Girish celebrated his birthday at a hotel room in Jayanagar along with the victim, the 42-year-old Farida Khatoon. After the birth-day celebration, they went to a park where Girish collected a knife and stabbed Khatoon to death near the Shalini Ground in Jayanagar. After getting injured from the stabbing, Khatoon, the mother of two children aged 21 and 16, succumbed to her injuries.

The victim hails from Kolkata and was employed at a unisex spa in Bengaluru for a few years. It was during the visit of Girish that he got acquainted with Khatoon and began the relationship. The man was unhappy with the nature of her job and asked her to quit it and marry him.

According to a report by Times Of India, both reached Shalini ground and Girish proposed Khatoon from there. When she refused his proposal, he initially assaulted her and then stabbed her multiple times with the knife he bought from a shop just before he reached the ground. The injuries from stabbing led to Khatoon”s death. Police suspect that the crime was premeditated as the man was carrying a knife with him on his way. Girish had reportedly claimed that he was persuading Kathoon to quit her job and marry him. DCP Shivaprakash Devaraju says that the police are recording the statements of some people who witnessed the murder.

Girish had converted to Islam in 2011 and adopted a new name, Rehan Ahmed. In 2016, he reverted his name to the original Girish.
