Daughter Brutally Murdered Mother After Finding Out About Her Expulsion From College.

23 year old Sydney Powell murdered her mother Brenda Powell with nearly 30 stabs in her neck using knife. Ms. Powell committed the cold blood murder after her mother found out she had been kicked out of her college. Sydney Powell is a former student of Mount Union University. The incident happened on March 3, 2020.

As per NEW YORK POST, Ms. Powell was found guilty of murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence in the brutal killing of her 50 year old mother Brenda Powell who was a health care worker at Akron”s Children”s Hospital, as said by Summit County Prosecutor”s Office.

According to the Summit County Prosecutor”s Office, Ms. Powell “struck Brenda Powell with an iron skillet in the head, then stabbed her nearly 30 times in the neck”.

Sydney attacked her mother while she was on phone with official”s from Sydney’s school. The severely injured Brenda was found in her Scudder Drive home by the police on March of 2020. Though she, along with her then 19 year old daughter, was taken to hospital, Mrs. Powell could not survive.

The defence argued that Sydney could not be held accountable for the murder as she was suffering from schizophrenia. One of the defence expert, James Reardon, stated that after Ms. Powell murdered her mother whom she considered her best friend, Sydney went through a psychotic break.

However, the psychologist hired by the prosecutors, Sylvia O”Bradovich argued back that Sydney did  not meet the threshold of legal definition of insanity while she committed the crime. But she also agreed that Ms. Powell went through mental illness such as borderline personality traits and anxiety disorder.

Though Stephen Powell, Sydney”s father and Brenda”s husband and Betsy Brown, Sydney’s maternal grandmother asked prosecutors to “reach a resolution without a trial”, according to report. But prosecution denied the request.

Brian Stano, assistant prosecutor, remarked that Sydney murdered her mother because she did not want her secret to see the daylight. “She had to switch weapons and keep attacking her”.

Ms. Powell”s sentencing will be done on September 27. As pre the report, Sydney will possibly receive a maximum of life behind the bars and an additional time for the evidence tampering conviction.
