Maratha Quota Activist Manoj Jarange Gives Another Ultimatum To State

By 11 am on Saturday Maharashtra government should accept their demand, Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil gave another ultimatum on Friday. The government should issue an ordinance on Maratha reservation by tonight, he added.

The activist warned that Marathas will march towards Mumbai”s Azad Maidan for massive protest if the state government failed to consider their demand. “If by tonight GR (Government Resolution) is not issued by the Maharashtra government, Marathas will march towards Mumbai tomorrow morning,” ANI quotes as he is saying.

He added that Maratha protestors won”t stop their agitation until their community”s demand for reservation have not met.

The Maratha community have been demanding reservation in government and educational institutions under the Other Backward Class (OBC) category.

As protest concerning Maratha reservation mounted last year, Maharashtra government has formulated a committee to address the quota issue and it began its work on December last year.

Jarange Patil is at the forefront in this community agitation. Activist on last week said that his march to Mumbai would constitute the final leg of the struggle, therefore, he urged entire Maratha community to assemble in the capital city on January 26 to show their strength.

Thousands of protestors has reached on Thursday night and government is trying convince them not to enter Mumbai. According to the plan, Manoj Jarange along with his supporters was to start hunger strike at Azad Maidan tody. But the Mumbai Police had issued notice to the activist refusing permission to conduct hunger strike.
