Meet Deepak Mhaskey: BJP’s New Social Media Chief Replacing Amit Malviya
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a major change in its digital organisation, appointing Deepak Mhaskey as its new National Social Media Convenor.
The Chhattisgarh-based leader takes over at a time when the party is preparing for another important electoral cycle.
The appointment was announced as part of BJP president Nitin Nabin’s new organisational team.
Mhaskey replaces Amit Malviya, who had headed the party’s digital operations for more than a decade. The change puts a new face in charge of one of the BJP’s most important communication networks.
Deepak Mhaskey is a BJP leader from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, with experience spanning academics, technology, electoral data, agriculture and party organisation.
He has worked with the BJP’s IT and social media machinery at the state level and has also been involved in election-related data and grassroots outreach.
Mhaskey is known more for his work involving data, organisation and campaign strategy, areas that are expected to shape his approach to the BJP’s national social media operations.
Before becoming deeply involved in political and organisational work, Mhaskey worked as a college professor of chemistry. He holds an M.Sc. in Chemistry, along with qualifications in cement technology and computer programming.
His professional journey later expanded into agriculture and rural development. He has spent several decades associated with horticulture, organic farming and related activities, giving him experience working with rural communities.
Mhaskey has previously worked with the Chhattisgarh BJP IT Cell and has also served as a party spokesperson. His experience in electoral data collection and analysis has been particularly significant.
He has worked with information related to voters and beneficiaries of government welfare programmes, making data an important part of his organisational work.

His appointment therefore brings someone with experience in both the party’s digital machinery and its grassroots network to the national level.
Mhaskey has also held positions outside the BJP’s organisational structure.
He has served as chairman of the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Ltd (CGMSC). The corporation’s official system currently lists him as its chairman.
He has also served as an independent director on the board of Engineers India Limited, adding a public-sector and institutional dimension to his professional experience.
He has also been associated with grassroots initiatives involving health camps, rural libraries, digital payments and programmes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
