Munawar Faruqui Responds To UP Police’s Eid Day Prayer Directive: “Will No Festival…”

Stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss winner Munawar Faruqui has criticised the recent directive by Meerut Police prohibiting roadside Eid prayers. Sharing a news report on the order, he questioned, “Is this for 30 minutes of Namaz? Will no festivals be allowed on Indian roads anymore?”

The Uttar Pradesh police announced that those violating the ban on Eid-Ul-Fitr and the final Friday prayers of Ramzan could face legal consequences, including the cancellation of passports and driving licences. Officials stated that individuals booked under criminal cases would require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the court to obtain a new passport, with confiscated documents remaining withheld until judicial clearance.

Faruqui’s comments appear to highlight the selective enforcement of such restrictions, particularly in contrast to processions and rallies held by other religious groups during festivals.
