In Telangana, a 19-year-old Muslim boy was assaulted and paraded naked by Hindutva mob, who were celebrating Ayodhya’s Ram temple consecration. The incident happened at Morgi, a village in Telangana’s Sangareddy district, near to the Karnataka border. The teenager, along with four other Muslims were sent to jail for disrespecting a religious flag, while his attackers are allowed to roam around freely, said media report.

The incident happened on January 22, but came to light on January 25. The teenager, who was identified as Abbas was arrested for allegedly disrespecting a religious flag and posting a flag on his social media platform.

In the video, which was allegedly posted by the teenager, it was said, tumhari aukaat humare pairon ki dhool (your status is the dust on our feet). We are Muslims, don’t forget it…”, a voice from the background was heard as saying.

The other four Muslims who were arrested were sent to remand. They were arrested for allegedly helping the teenager in making the video. Police booked the five, including Abbas, under IPC sections, 153A (promoting enmity between groups), 253A (offending religious beliefs), and 505 (2) (promoting hatred or ill-will).

Villagers from Morgi, and other adjacent village from Karnataka reached Morgi in large numbers and caught the 19-year-old. He was assaulted by many by pushing him onto the ground in full public view. He was paraded naked in the village. The brutal attack was also shot by one of the attackers and shared it on social media.

A case has been registered against the mob based on the complaint from the teenager. Though five persons from the mob have been identified, no arrest have been made yet. The case against the mob was registered under IPC sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 505 (2) (statement conducing public mischief), and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Responding to the incident, Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi said, “a man was beaten up & paraded naked in Sangareddy, Telangana. Whatever his offensive behaviour, this kind of heinous mob violence is condemnable.@spsangareddy @TelanganaDGP & CoP Sangareddy must take strict action. Mob violence is a contagious disease & a strong deterrent effect is necessary,” on his X (formerly twitter) account.
