“Narendra Modi, As Usual, Is Maintaining Silence”: Rahul Gandhi's Fresh Attack After Supreme Court Slams NTA

Amid the NEET-UG 2024 examination row over its alleged irregularities in results, Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi slammed PM Modi and his government over the continued silence on the examinations and the “organised corruption” prevalent in the BJP-ruled states. His attack comes shortly after the Supreme Court came down heavily on the central government and the National Testing Agency (NTA), the body conducting the nationwide exam for medical aspirants, ordering a swift action even if “0.001 percent negligence” is found.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Gandhi criticised, “Narendra Modi, as usual, is maintaining silence on the tampering with the future of more than 24 lakh students in the NEET examination. The arrests made in Bihar, Gujarat, and Haryana clearly show that there has been organised corruption in the examination in a planned manner and these BJP ruled states have become the epicentre of paper leak,” he said.

Gandhi further added that the Congress had guaranteed to secure the future of the youth by ensuring stricter laws against paper leaks. Assuring the fulfilment of the responsibility of the opposition, the Raebareli MP added that the grand old party is committed to creating policies in favour of the students by “raising the voice of the youth from the streets to the Parliament and putting pressure on the government.”

Samjawadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav had also criticised the government for the paper leaks of several exams, the suspicious functioning of the exam conducting agency, rigging from exam centres, and the poor management of examinations. “When the government is the same and its system is also the same, then all these scams may again become a means of earning money for the government-protected ‘exam mafias,’” said Yadav, criticising the Modi-led central government.
