New Delhi: A Delhi court on Tuesday dismissed the money laundering complaint lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
Hearing the case, the Rouse Avenue District Court ruled that the ED’s complaint is inadmissible because it originated from a 2012 private complaint by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, without a required First Information Report for a predicate offense.

The case is long-standing, which includes allegations that Young Indian Private Limited, where the Gandhis hold 76% shares, acquired control of debt-ridden Associated Journals Limited — the publisher of the National Herald. The acquisition was for a sum of Rs 50 lakh, gaining properties worth over Rs 2,000 crore.
Congress leadership has hailed the verdict, with the party’s handle stating that there is no substance to the National Herald case. “Various investigative agencies were being misused for this purpose. The momentum of this case has fizzled out. The court has refused to take cognizance of all the documents and arguments presented in connection with it. It’s worth thinking about that even with so many resources at its disposal, the Modi government couldn’t build a case in this matter—because lies have no legs,” the Congress party wrote.

Congress party and our leadership are committed to fighting for truth and for rights of every Indian – we cannot, and will not be ever intimidated – because we fight for the truth,” the party added,
