No issue with the temple coming, But Can't Accept The One Built By Razing Mosque: Udhayanidhi Stalin

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader and Tamil Nadu sports and youth welfare minister Udhayanidhi Stalin today said that his party has no issue with the temple coming up, but, he said, he cannot accept that the one (temple) that was built by razing a mosque, suggesting that he was against the temple only because it was constructed after demolishing a Masjid.

The statement of the DMK leader came when the Ram temple, which was built after demolishing Babari Masjid, is set to be inaugurated in Ayodhya on January 22. Udhayanidhi Stalin made the statement after flagging off a torch relay in Chennai for the DMK youth wing conference, which will take place on January 21.

He also cited Kalaignar (Karunanidhi), saying that the former chief minister had clarified that the DMK is not against any religion. “We are not against any religion, beliefs… We do not have an issue with the temple coming up there but we cannot accept that the one that was built was built by razing a mosque. Our treasurer (TR Baalu) has already said not to link politics and spiritualism,” he said.

Referring to the Ram temple event, the DMK leader and MP TR Baalu had issued a statement accusing the central government of using faith as an investment for vote-bank politics, noting that the Ram temple event in Ayodhya is against democracy and spiritual values.

Talking about the youth wing conference, the minister said the program will be held grandly in the presence of the tamil nadu Chief minister MK Stalin. “We expect at least 3-4 lakh members of the party’s youth wing to turn up for the event. Transportation, accommodation and food facilities for people coming from other districts have been arranged. Maanila Urimaigal Meetpu Maanadu (Retrieval of State Rights) is the theme of the conference,” said Udhayanidhi

The program was postponed twice due to the flood situation in Chennai last December. The minister also said that the torch relay would reach Salem on January 20. Upon reaching Salem, it would be handed over to the Chief Minister Stalin who would inaugurate the event.
