Nurse Defends Herself From Gang-Rape By Mutilating Doctor’s Private Parts

A doctor and his two staff members were arrested on Thursday for allegedly attempting to rape a nurse at a private hospital in Bihar. This incident has occurred amidst widespread protests nationwide after a trainee doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata.

The police said that the nurse managed to fend off her attackers. Displaying courage, she mutilated the doctor’s private part with a blade and escaped.

The nurse was wrapping at the RBS Health Care Centre in Gangapur under the Musrighararari police station limits in Samastipur district on Wednesday night when hospital administration Dr. Sanjay Kumar and two of his associates tried to rape her.

“The doctors and his two accomplices were under the influence of liquor,” the police said.

While trying to free herself from the clutches of Dr Kumar and the assaulters, the nurse used a blade to slash at the doctor’s genitals. The nurse then managed to escape and dial the police after hiding in a field outside the hospital.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Pandey said a team was rushed to the hospital and after making sure the nurse was safe, three people were arrested, including the doctor. The two others were identified as Sunil Kumar Gupta and Awadhesh Kumar.

Pandey said that the men had locked the hospital from the inside and turned off the CCTV camera before trying to sexually assault the nurse. “The presence of mind and courage shown by the survivor is praiseworthy,” he said, as reported by NDTV.

Officials also added that the three men had been drinking before trying to assault the nurse; they will also be charged under prohibition laws because Bihar is a dry state.

From the crime scene, the police recovered liquor bottles, the blade the nurse had used to defend herself, blood-stained clothes, and three cell phones.

The recent brutal crime in Kolkata triggered nationwide protests and an indefinite strike by junior doctors, highlighting the ongoing concerns about the safety of medical professionals, particularly women.
