Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Srinagar today. This is the first visit of the prime minister to the state since the abrogation of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday accused that the Jammu and Kashmir government is “pulling out all stops” to ensure a crowd for Modi’s Srinagar rally.

Abdulla has shared a document on X handle, which shows the list of the employees who are being compelled to gather as early as 4:30 am amidst the freezing temperatures. As per the post of the former chief minister, the employees are forced to participate in the rally and those who fail to attend are threatened with disciplinary actions by the department head.

“Employees, men & women both, in their 1000s are being asked to assemble between 4:30 AM & 5:30 AM in the freezing temperatures to be bused to the venue. This participation isn’t optional, it’s compulsory. Employees who don’t show up are been threatened with disciplinary action by their Dept heads,” he said.

Criticizing the godi media’s narrative, he said, that while the media celebrated the large crowd in Srinagar, they will forget to mention that none among them attended of their own free will as the BJP cannot manage anything without the help of the administration.

“Tomorrow the godi media and agencies will be gushing about the ‘historic crowd’ gathered to hear PM Modi in Srinagar. What they will conveniently forget to mention is that almost none of the people there will be attending of their own free will. The dictatorial Jammu and Kashmir government has pulled out all stops to give the PM a crowd because the BJP can’t manage anything in J-K without the administration,” he wrote.

He also claimed that several private schools have been directed to provide their buses for transporting the employees for the rally. “Private schools like DPS Etc have had their buses commandeered to transport all these employees to the venue. I have lists running in to the 1000s with department details, addresses & mobile numbers plus transport details,” he added.

Slamming the media for not showing the truth, he concluded, “I’ve redacted a portion of one page out of 140 pages. This is the naya J&K but like I said godi media won’t report this. They prefer “three families”, “new era of development” yada yada.”

PM Modi during his visit is expected to unveil several development projects worth more than Rs 6,400 crore and address a public meeting in Srinagar.
