On early Tuesday, a male passenger on a Mumbai-Bengaluru SpiceJet airplane underwent distressing situation as he stuck inside aircraft lavatory for close to 100 minutes, Times of India reports. The alleged malfunctioning of the door lock posed the situation, reports add. He was later rescued when engineers broke open the loo door at Bengaluru”s Kempegowda International Airport.

The incident occurred on Flight SG-268 which took off from Mumbai airport at 2 am on Tuesday. Originally, it was scheduled to depart from Mumbai airport at 10:55 pm on Monday. It reached at Kempegowda International Airport, 3:42 am on Tuesday.

“It was known that the passenger on 14D seat had gone to the toilet soon after takeoff and the seatbelt signs went off. Sadly, he got trapped inside as the toilet door malfunctioned,” TOI quotes as a member of the KIA ground staff is saying.

Due to the agitated calls by the passenger, the crew attempted to open the door from the outside, but it also proved futile. Unable to find any option to open the door, Air hostesses wrote a note on a piece of paper and communicated to the passenger requesting him not to panic and ensured him immediate assistance when flight got landed. The stranded passenger was also asked to close the commode lid, sit on it and secure yourself.

As soon as the flight landed at 3.42 am Tuesday, engineers rushed to the place, broke open the door and rescued the man after his suffering over two-hour. “The passenger was totally traumatised due to claustrophobia,” the officer said. He was immediately taken for first aid.
