Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched projects worth around Rs 5800 crores in Mehsana, Gujarat on Monday. The projects include different fields such as rail, road, drinking water and irrigation.

He began his address by reminding the importance of October 30 and 31, the former constituting the death anniversary of Govind Guru and the latter as of the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. He then congratulated people of Gujarat for the new projects and said that these will further advance connectivity and benefit the farmers in the region.

Recalling the water shortage problem in North Gujarat region in the past, Prime Minister underlined how Sujalam-Sufalam Scheme, making use of the water of Narmada and Mahi rivers resulted in the rejuvenation and the development of the region. Also, he added that, 6 barrages are being built on Sabarmati to ensure maximum benefits where one of these barrages has been inaugurated on Monday. Besides, the new technology of micro irrigation also helped farmers of North Gujarat tremendously. The efforts to develop Deesa as organic hub for potatoes, setting up a huge plant for Banaskantha, establishing Agro Food Park in Mehsana, and the steps were taken to build similar mega food park in Banaskantha were also talked.

Talking about water conservation scheme in Gujarat titled Jal Jeevan Mission, he said: “Har Ghar Jal Abhiyan, like the one in Gujarat, is changing the lives of crores of people in the country.”

Prime Minister then said that women have been the biggest beneficiaries of the advancement of animal husbandry and dairy sector. As the central government is running huge campaign for or free vaccination of livestock spending Rs 15,000 crores, he requested the cattle rearers of the region to get their animals vaccinated. Further, mentioned about setting up many plants under the Gobardhan Yojana where biogas and bio CNG are being made from cow dung.

Discussing the development of Mandal-Becharji Automobile Hub, which has given rise to employment opportunities and the income of the people, PM Modi stated the expansion of automobile industry in North Gujarat. Besides, he also highlighted railway projects worth more than Rs 5000 crores and mentioned the dedicated freight corridor between Mehsana and Ahmedabad.

Noting the achievement in green hydrogen and solar energy production, Prime Minister brought to attention, the solar park in Patan and in Banaskantha and also Modhera village, which is running on solar energy 24 hours.

While discussing the potential of tourism in Gujarat, he mentioned about world-famous Kutch Rann Utsav, recent recognition of Dhordo village of Kutch as the best tourist village, and cited other places in North Gujarat that are becoming major tourist destination in India.

The important projects inaugurated include the New Bhandu-New Sanand(N) section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC); doubling of the Viramgam – Samakhiali rail line; Katosan Road- Bechraji – Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL Siding) Rail Project; project for recharge of various village lakes of Vijapur taluka and Mansa taluka of Mehsana and Gandhinagar district; Valasana barrage on Sabarmati river in Mehsana District; two schemes for provisioning of drinking water in Palanpur, Banaskantha; and the Dharoi dam based Palanpur lifeline project – Head work (HW) and water treatment plant of 80 MLD capacity.

The projects whose foundation stones laid by the Prime Minister are various development projects in Kheralu; the project for providing irrigation facilities in Santrampur taluka of Mahisagar District; widening and strengthening of Naroda – Dehgam – Harsol – Dhansura Road, Sabarkantha; project for Kalol Nagarpalika Sewerage and Septage Management in Gandhinagar District; and projects for sewage treatment plants in Siddhpur (Patan), Palanpur (Banaskantha), Bayad (Aravalli) and Vadnagar (Mehsana).
