A user, Jayant Bandhari criticised the government of India for not taking anything seriously, he wrote, “Indians are never into anything serious. There is too much dance and drama. Only low-IQ countries do this. No one likes these pathetic dances and non-music. And women dancing like this look like offerings to the men.”

Another user wrote on X, “This servile habit, where women dance in front of rich foreigners, was prevalent during the Mughal era. It has now transcended to the present, with such practices continuing with Americans and Europeans”.
Many wrote it to be a bad portrayal of Indian culture. While another wrote letter to the Prime Minister saying that it is totally unnecessary to make Indian women dance in front of the foreign leaders, diplomats and cricketers just like in the Mughal Era. He then added that using Hindu women as ‘nautch girls’ for Mujras to please someone is outright insult to them. “This servile habit where Hindu women dance in front of rich foreigners was prevalent during the Mughal era”. He concluded by pleading to the PM to stop using folk dances for welcoming protocol and urged him to think of better idea.
This wasn”t the first time, the welcome protocol invited controversy. During the G20 summit in India, many came questioning the decision to welcome guests with amateur dance performances.
