Social Media Slams BJP's Cyber Attack Over Congress Spokesperson (image: Shehzad Poonawalla/facebook)

Congress Spokesperson Lavanya Ballal Jain has been subjected to cyber attack with sexual innuendos, and community attack. She became the target of online trolling following a live Television debate with BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla. The incident happened when both engaged in a heated exchange at the online discussion.

Lavanya Ballal Jain took to social media platform X, and expressed her displeasure and anger against BJP spokesperson for insulting her religion. She called him a “cheapster” and also claimed that Shehzad Poonawalla is on the payroll of “one of the richest (Jain) man on earth,” pointing to Gautam Adani. Her response was in connection with the video clipping posted by the BJP spokesperson from the said TV debate.

In the video, Shehzad Poonawalla is seen discussing Centre”s developmental projects in southern states, and challenges Jain on grand old party”s contributions in the same regard. Besides, during the debate BJP spokesperson called Lavanya Ballal Jain, “Lavanya BJ” mockingly. In quick response, she asked Poonawalla to refrain from making vulgar inferences and disrespecting her name with derogatory comments.

However, following TV debate, she became a subject of online trolling, and derogatory remarks with sexual references. At the same time, many social media users came in support of her and attacked BJP IT”s cell attitude.

In the recent post, BJP spokesperson who came to aware of the criticisms, tried to lessen its impact by stating that “Now let’s move on from #LavanyaBJ – I know this isn’t in my or your control & it’s spontaneous outburst of people on SM towards the arrogance, ignorance of the congress spokesperson but let us now have the bigger heart & ignore her” and she slammed this response as “This is a clear case of Sorrywarkar.”  She further added, “BJP can never be the champions of Women’s cause, it’s seen clearly in the number of rapists and molesters in their ranks and their use of language to put down women”.
