Following actor Salman Khan, Bihar MP Pappu Yadav, aka Rajesh Ranjan, is the latest to receive a death threat from the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. The unknown caller claimed to be working for Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati jail.
In an audio clip, the unidentified caller claimed that he was closely monitoring Yadav’s movements and threatened to kill him if he did not stay away from matters involving Salman Khan. He also claimed that Lawrence Bishnoi was paying Rs 1 lakh per hour to disable signal jammers to establish direct contact with the Purnia MP, who had been apparently ignoring his calls.

The call reportedly came from a UAE number.
Following the Bishnoi gang claiming the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique on October 12, Yadav openly challenged Bishnoi on X a day later, declaring that if the law allowed, he would “dismantle the entire network of a cheap criminal like Lawrence Bishnoi within 24 hours.”
Recently, Yadav met Siddique’s son Zeeshan in Mumbai and expressed a desire to meet Salman Khan as well. The meeting with the latter did not happen due to the actor’s busy schedule.
In the recorded message, which Yadav handed over to Bihar’s Director General of Police (DGP), the caller said, “You could have told ‘bhai’ that the media did this, not me. Settle the matter as soon as possible. I considered you an elder brother, and you’ve embarrassed me. Call back, and I’ll connect you with ‘bhai.’”
Yadav also sent a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding to upgrade his security from ‘Y category’ to ‘Z category’.
Yadav condemned the Maharashtra leader’s murder and stated on X that the killing of a government-backed former minister highlighted “total lawlessness” in the state. He remarked, “The murder of Bihar’s son, Baba Siddique, is extremely tragic. If the BJP-led government cannot protect its influential leaders, what hope is there for ordinary people?”
During a press conference recently, the Independent MP grew visibly frustrated when journalists asked about Bishnoi. Yadav reminded them, “I’ve already told you not to ask irrelevant questions here.”

Ranjan Yadav, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, transitioned from a world of crime to politics in 1990, where he reigned his first victory from the Singheshwar constituency in the Bihar assembly polls. Since then, Yadav has won the Purnia Lok Sabha seat in 1996 under the Samajwadi Party banner, and then in 1999 and 2024 as an independent candidate.
In 2016, the Patna High Court acquitted Yadav and two others in the 1998 murder case of Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLA Ajit Sarkar.
Despite affiliating with other established parties such as Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Yadav’s electoral success has largely been independent.
