Why People Say 'Operation Sindoor' A 'Perfect Name' For India's Response To Pahalgam Attack
India’s strikes had come as a response to the Pahalgam terror attack last month that claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. All the victims except one local were members of the Hindu community as they were asked about their religious identity before gunning them down. One Kashmiri was reportedly shot while trying to save the tourists from the terrorist attack.

Notably, all the victims of the attack were men who were murdered in front of their wives and children asking their names, leaving several women widows.
Operation Sindoor Symbolises Avenging Agony Of Wives
Many Hindu women put “sindoor” — meaning vermilion — on their head after their marriage, and the Pahalgam attack symbolically erased the “sindoor”, snatching away the life partners of approximately 25 women in the April 22 attack. Due to this symbolic meaning, many people have stated that the mission was given a perfect name to avenge the loss of lives in the Pahalgam attacks.
During the late-night strikes at terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), India hit nine targets, killing at least eight people, as per the confirmation from Pakistan. The strikes came two weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack, in which India blamed Pakistan for sponsoring cross-border terrorism.

Similarly, several Indians including actors and celebrities have echoed the views that Operation Sindoor was a perfect name for India’s response to the Pahalgam attack. Film personalities including Riteish Deshmukh, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, and Nimrat Kaur, have expressed their support for symbolic name.
