After Maldives ministers” “derogatory comments” on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep, several Indians including celebrities started to endorse Indian islands like Lakshadweep. Actors like, Shradda Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and several others posted on their social media platforms encouraging Indians to visit the Indian archipelago.
Ranveer Singh also joined the trend, but mistakenly shared a 2016 picture of Maldives instead of Lakshadweep. Though he deleted the picture and re-tweeted his words, netizens noticed the error. Sharing the pictures, the star wrote, “this year let’s make 2024 about exploring India and experiencing our culture”. He said there is so much to see and explore across the beaches of India. He encourage Indians and said, “Chalo bharat dekhe”.

Cabinet Minister Kiren Rijiju was also seen as sharing pictures of Maldives and Bora Bora island while responding to the actors. Netizens called it most embarrassing. The minister then took off the posts from his X account.
