The Uttar Pradesh Recruitment Board conducted an exam for 60,244 constable positions and has, so far, seen a total of 287 candidates arrested for cheating during the examination, according to the official estimates.

The UP STF and District Police jointly conducted operations to curb cheating during the examination. On Saturday”s shifts total 126 cheating cases came into light and on the second day”s shift, over 150 were held by the Police. Over 120 people were caught for impersonating someone else and others were engaged in cheating.

In another case in Varanasi, two miscreants of the gang who cheated the candidates of Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Examination were arrested by the UP STF Varanasi unit  from Singhpur underpass of Sarnath. Admit cards of 8 candidates, educational certificates of 32, bank checks with signatures of 24, stamp papers with signatures of 18 and three mobile phones were recovered from their possession.

Notably, a massive number of candidates, approximately 50 lakhs, registered for the exam. Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) received the largest online registrations for the biggest bulk recruitments of the UP Police so far. The exams are being held at 2385 locations across all 75 districts of the state on February 17 and 18. Given the extensive applications, the test was administered throughout two or three shifts. The official earlier added that examining such a big scale will be a challenge for the administration.

As per the report, on Saturday, a total of 12,04,360 candidates appeared for the exam in both the first and second shifts while on the second day, a total of 12,04,361 candidates appeared in the first shift, and 12,04,360 candidates in the second shift.

Around 42 lakh candidates are said to be from the state and around 2,67,305 candidates were from Bihar, 74,769 from Haryana, 98,400 from Madhya Pradesh, 97,277 from Rajasthan, 42,259 from Delhi, 17,112 from Jharkhand, 14,627 from Uttarakhand, 5,512 from West Bengal, 3,151 from Maharashtra, and 3,404 from Punjab.

Under its two-day UP Police Constable recruitment process held on 17 and 18 February, DGP Prashant Kumar, monitoring the exam’s conduct, acknowledged the vigilance of state police agencies for making sufficient arrangements and measures for preventing attempts to compromise the exam integrity via paper leaks and solver gangs.

To ensure fairness Police board took to advanced technologies including Facial Recognition, Biometric Verification, Aadhar Authentication, and jammers to block communication via radio frequency-based devices, informed DGP.

On Saturday, amid the tight security arrangements some screenshots were circulating on the social media ‘X’ informing the February 17 shift 2 paper leak. However, the UP Police Recruitment Board rebuked any such fake news regarding paper leaks and assured about the inquiry. The board clarifies via ‘X’ that amid all the fake news circulating using ‘Telegram’s Edit’, the exam continues unhindered. The Board also acknowledged the inquiry about the claims made through the fake news.

During the exam candidates also faced huge rush in the trains. Users shared videos and images of the rush witnessed on the railway platforms. Meanwhile, tight security arrangements were made around the centres.
