Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly dismissed Janata Dal (Secular) Chief HD Deve Gowda”s claims that the former had agreed to his party”s alliance with the BJP in Karnataka, and said it is “a delusional fantasy.” In Kerala, JD(S) is a partner in Mr Vijayan-led LDF government.

Taking to X on Friday, CPI (M) leader responded in sharp words: “I am absolutely astonished by H D Deve Gowda”s recent statement! The mere notion that I would even entertain the idea of supporting a JDS-BJP alliance is nothing short of a delusional fantasy.”

He then added that it is “utterly disgraceful” for a veteran politician like Mr Gowda to make such baseless claims.

Mr Vijayan ascertained the CPI(M) has been “an unwavering and unyielding force in the battle against the Sangh Parivar.”

“There is no room for ambiguity in our stance,” he concluded.

It was on Thursday, Mr Gowda said that all the state units of the party has extended their support

“In Kerala, we are part of the government and our MLA is a minister there. These units understood the situation that made us to go with the BJP and supported our move. Our minister in the Left party’s government (K Krishnankutty) in Kerala has given consent to us,” he said.

“Kerala’s Left government’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has given full concurrence to move forward in Karnataka with the BJP to save the party. This is the position,” former prime minister had claimed.

However, Mr Gowda”s claim has erupted a political row in Kerala, where the opposition Congress alleged that JD(S) supremo”s statement reveals the nexus between the ruling CPI(M) and the BJP in Kerala.
