The explosion at a religious conference in Kalamessery on Sunday morning has resulted in spread of fake news and hate speech targeting the state and religious groups in Kerala. Many right-wing handles are circulating fake news and assumptions regarding the incident on social media platforms.

Rohan Dua, executive editor of The new Indian, posted on X that four coordinated blasts rocks Kerala where Jews live in Kalamassery.

“This comes day after Former #Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal surfaced in Kerala to make virtual address at a pro-Palestine rally in Malappuram Do you all still doubt The Kerala Story?,” he  wrote on X.

The video posted has already garnered thousands of views. Right wing social media is trying to link the blast with the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and has tried to link it with Hamas. In a pro-Palestine rally organized by Solidarity Youth Movement, Hamas resistance group leader Khaled Mishal virtually participated and addressed Keralites. This incident is being linked with the blast which took place today to spread hate speech.

The Kerala police has warned that strict actions will be taken against those spreading fake on social media. And the police has said to the media that the cause for the explosion is not yet identified.

It is reported that due to the blast 36 were injured and one died. Around 2000 people had participated in the meet.

National security Guard and National intelligence Agency are sent to Kerala under the direction of Home Minister Amit Shah to assess the situation.

Meanwhile, BJP leader KJ Alphonse too had blamed the blast on terrorism. He alleged that Kerala is in the grip of terrorism and terrorism has been happening in Kerala for a very long time.

Rohan Dua in another post he shared regarding the blast he wrote, “This after under-pressure Kerala government scrambles to justify how it allowed a pro Hamas address by Khalid Meshal to take place in its capital and rupture peace in India”.

While another netizen posted,”This is a coordinated terrorist attack….today on Jews ..2maro on others ! ”
