Kerala Assembly Elections Live Updates: Voting Underway In 140 Constituencies
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Polling is underway in 140 constituencies across Kerala as the Assembly Elections began on Thursday morning. While the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) is eying a third term, the opposition UDF is seeking a comeback. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is trying to open its accounts in the state where it currently holds no legislators.
The elections are being held in a single phase for all 140 constituencies, and 883 candidates are in the fray. More than 2.7 core voters are eligible will be voting across Kerala. The polling will take place between 7 am to 6 pm

While the LDF faces anti-incumbency after ten years of being in power, the UDF is bolstered by its performance in 2025 local body elections. The BJP, which is also hopeful after opening an account in Thrissur during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

09 April 2026, 08: 45am: Polling started at 7 am, and several key political leaders including chief minister Pinaray Vijayan and leader of Opposition cast their vote on the early hours of the polling.
