An army jawan was reportedly attacked on Monday in Kerala”s Kollam by 5-6 miscreants, with letters PFI written on his back. PFI or Popular Front of India is a banned Muslim organisation, which is described as an unlawful association by the Union government. The visuals shared online shows the letters PFI painted in green on the back of the jawan.

Investigation on the matter is underway, and according to a police official from Kollam, the complaint was false and jawan staged everything with his friend to get national attention, so that “he will get something from the incident”.

The Livemint quoted R Prathapan Nair, Addl SP, Kollam Rural as saying: “He filed a complaint before the Kadakkal Police Station and during the course of investigation, it was revealed that his complaint was false. On the basis of that, he was arrested today and one of his friends was also arrested. He is an Army personnel and wanted national attention in this regard and that after that he will get something from this incident. He wanted to get a suitable posting for him…”

The journalist and fact checker Mohammed Zubair on Tuesday has come up series of X posts on the incident and said the whole incident was fabricated.

“According to recent update, The Soldier Shine Kumar and his friend Joshi who helped him are in custody. They allegedly staged the entire drama for fame”, the Alt News co-founder posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Army was also following the case along with local police. Shine Kumar earlier stated the local police that six people had forcibly taken him from his house and attacked him in an adjacent rubber forest in Kadakkal, says reports. Mr Kumar, who stationed in Rajasthan with the electronics and mechanical cadre of the Army is currently on leave.

“FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by an army personnel alleging he attacked in a shop by 5-6 miscreants who, after assault, painted PFI on his back”, said Mr Zubair.

“The police have recovered the paint and brush that they used to write PFI. Joshi explained to the police that he had bought the paint and brush from Chirainkeezh and had torn the shine t-shirt with a blade”, he added. He also said that the police is further investigating the matter.

“Army Jawan Shine Kumar”s friend Joshy confessed to the police. “He asked me to paint PFI. I heard DFI and wrote that. Then he asked me to erase it and write PFI. He then asked whether I could beat him. I couldn’t do that in that condition. They said he would lie down and asked me to drag him. I couldn’t even do that due to his weight,” “He said he wanted to become famous,” said Joshy”, reads Mr Zubair”s X post.
