A complaint has been filed against Kerala government for appointing Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) leader Dr Princy Kuriakose as a PSC Member. The complaint was handed over to the Governor Arif Mohammed Khan by the Save University Campaign Committee.

In the complaint filed, they have alleged that Princy acquired PhD by using her political influence and they have also pointed out some serious errors which she has made in her thesis.

Princy wrote her PhD thesis on the topic, “The concept of Vedadhikara according to Sree Shankaracharya and Chattambiswamikal- A comparative study”. But in her thesis, she had made some incorrect references and serious errors regarding Sree Shankaracharya. Despite this, she was awarded the PhD degree in 2018. She completed her research under former vice chancellor of Kalady University Dr Dharmaraj Adat.

Shankaracharya who is believed to have lived in the eighth and nineth centuries, Princy referred him to be lived in 18th and 19th centuries. In her thesis, she also mentioned that the untouchability came into existence in the 19th century.

The thesis also contained erroneous use of English phrases and words, spelling and grammatical errors. Despite all which, even after being pointed out by the participants during the Open Defence, the then VC advised in favour of awarding the candidate with a PhD.

Princy is the former President of DYFI Ernakulam district and a state committee member. By appointing Princy, Save University Campaign Committee Chairman RS Sasikumar and Convenor M Shajar Khan alleged that the government is trying to turn PSC appointments into politics-based selections.
