Kerala’s Wayanad has witnessed the worst landslides in recent times. Multiple landslides hit Mundakkai and Chooralmala settlements near Meppadi in the district on July 30. As per the latest reports, the death toll is now crossing 326 and more than 295 are still missing. Search and rescue operations are underway on the fourth day.

Relief efforts are also advancing in the affected areas. The volunteers from different parts of the state have flown to Wayanad and are offering their possible assistance to the affected people. As tragedy-hit areas are receiving love and human aid from all corners, the past days are also witnessing the union of opposing political parties forsaking the political differences in the face of crisis.

On social media platform X, Journalist Korah Abraham from the News Minute has shared the video of volunteers from the youth wing of different political parties cleaning the Meppadi school relief camp together. Volunteers from DYFI, SFI, Youth Congress, and Youth league, affiliated with CPI(M), Congress, and IUML, respectively are seen involved in the cleaning activities. In the midst of calamities, humanity supersedes all other political ideologies.

Each team is accompanied by three locals and one forest department employee as well.
