Keralam CM VD Satheesan Launches 'Mission Samudra', Flags Off Containers At Vizhinjam Seaport
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Export-Import (EXIM) operations at Vizhinjam Inter Seaport officially began on Tuesday, as Keralam chief minister VD Satheesan launched the state government’s ambitious Mission Samudra.
The event kickstarted the global maritime logistics at the seaport, opening a new gateway of development between India and the world in the southern most state.
Launching the operation, the chief minister said state should also be able to link its strong areas like academics with the government’s Samudra Mission, underlining that Vizhinjam is the first port in the country to have an automated algorithm-driven port.

In a social media post, the chief minister stated that the focus is to ensure seamless connectivity between Vizhinjam and Keralam’s road, rail and logistics networks, enabling faster and more efficient movement of goods.
“Vizhinjam is more than a port. It is a gateway connecting Keralam to the world and a catalyst for our next phase of development. Our priority is to build the infrastructure and connectivity required to realise its full potential and position Keralam firmly on the global maritime and trade map,” the chief minister added.
