The tragic death of 18-month-old Arshid in Kerala has sparked widespread outrage, with a resurfaced video of the toddler adding to growing public anger over the case.
The video, which has been circulating widely on social media, shows Arshid with both hands in plaster casts during an interaction with a YouTuber.
When asked about the injuries, his mother, Akhila, reportedly said the child had fallen from a bicycle.
Following the revelations surrounding the toddler’s death, many social media users have revisited the clip, claiming they can see signs of fear and trauma in the child’s eyes.
The case has taken a disturbing turn as investigators uncovered multiple injuries on the toddler’s body. Family members have made emotional statements describing the extent of the alleged abuse.

The child’s maternal grandfather said there was no part of Arshid’s body that had escaped injury. His paternal grandmother echoed the sentiment, saying, “Only his nails were left unhurt,” a remark that has shocked people across Kerala.
According to reports, Akhila, who works as a dancer, was often away for stage performances and would leave Arshid in the care of her mother, Reena, for several days at a time.
Family members have also raised questions about the child’s living conditions in the months leading up to his death.
Arshid’s biological father, Akhil, reportedly died by suicide around two years ago while Akhila was pregnant.
Members of Akhil’s family have alleged that after his death, Akhila cut off contact with them and did not allow them to maintain a relationship with the child.

The toddler was taken to the hospital by Akhila’s partner, Ashkar, on May 29 after claims that he had suddenly started coughing. He was later transferred to the SAT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where doctors declared him dead.
Initial explanations suggested the child had choked while eating rice. However, medical examinations and post-mortem findings reportedly revealed severe injuries, including multiple wounds across his body, raising suspicions of prolonged abuse.
Police have arrested Akhila and Ashkar and are continuing their investigation.
