Kozhikode, Kerala: Opposition leader V D Satheesan said that the chapter involving Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil had been “closed” and added that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] should prepare themselves for some “shocking news” in the coming days.
Speaking to the media in Kozhikode on Tuesday (August 26), Satheesan lauded the Congress party’s decision to take action against Mamkootathil, calling it a firm and remarkable model for Kerala.

Rahul Mamkootathil, a youth leader and Congress legislator representing the Palakkad constituency, has been suspended from the party’s primary membership by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) following accusations of sexual misconduct.
He had earlier resigned from the state youth congress president post. Although there has been an increasing demand for his resignation from the MLA post, the party leadership decided against it to avoid a byelection in Palakkad.
In a media address, the Opposition leader claimed that the ruling CPI(M) should not go too far with their protests related to the Palakkad MLA. Satheesan claimed that many more things were going to come out in the open soon and that Kerala would be shocked to hear them. He also added that his statement should be seen as a warning and that the information would be revealed before the elections.
He also took a dig at the BJP, which recently held a protest outside Satheesan’s official residence exhibiting a bull.

“I have something important to say to the BJP people. They had led a protest with a bull to the cantonment house. Don’t let that bull go. It should be tied up in the premise of the party office because the BJP will need it in the coming days. They will have to stage another protest to party State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s house with a bull,” Congress leader added.
