Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi on Saturday, amidst the phase 6 Lok Sabha election polling is underway, claimed that the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena has held a meeting with Delhi police to slow down the election process in INDIA bloc stronghold polling booths.

After casting the voting in a polling booth in Delhi, the AAP leader, while speaking to the reporters alleged that she had received information regarding a meeting that was held on Friday in which LG had given instructions to the Delhi police to slow down polling in all areas that are strongholds of the INDIA alliance. “If this happens then it will be a violation of free and fair elections. So we hope that the Election Commission will take cognizance of this”, she said.

Atishi’s comment elicited reaction from Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwalhe tweeted, “This is shocking, EC should ensure smooth voting in Delhi”.

However, responding to AAP’s allegation, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said that he had taken a stern view of the unwarranted and false statement on the day of the election against the constitutional authority by a minister. “This impropriety is unacceptable & these typically absurd & concocted claims are a deliberate design to subvert democracy by misleading voters. Strict action will be taken,” VK Saxena said further in the post.

The sixth phase of the election is being held across Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The Bharatiya Janata Party aims to sweep over all the seats aiming for their third win.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who is currently on interim bail by the Supreme Court in the Delhi Liquor policy case, has advocated for AAP and Congress candidates.
