Aonla: BJP Nominates Dharmendra Kashyap Hoping For A Hat-Trick Win (image-X/dkashyap24aonla)
The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has nominated sitting MP Dharmendra Kashyap to contest Lok Sabha elections once again from Uttar Pradesh”s Aonla seat.
Since 2014, BJP candidate Dharmendra Kashyap has retained his Aonla Lok Sabha seat. Defeating the Samajwadi Party’s (SP) Kunwar Sarvraj Kumar, who secured 2.7 lakh votes with a significant margin, Kashyap received over 4 lakh votes. In the next general elections, Kashyap secured 51 percent of votes, surpassing Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) Ruchi Veera, who secured 40 percent of votes. With another victory by a huge margin, his win was part of the many that the saffron party experienced with its growing influence in Uttar Pradesh.
In 2021, a FIR was registered against Kashyap and three others for allegedly verbally abusing and misbehaving with priests of Jageshwar Dham and members of the temple management committee.
In 2023, the BJP MP demanded firm action against Chinese manjha (string) manufacturers, sellers, and purchasers, citing the product as a threat to people and animals alike. He also added that the Chinese strings had a negative impact on manufacturers of the traditional manjha of Bareilly.
In January this year, during an event promoting development in his constituency, Kashyap distributed certificates and keys for beneficiaries of the PM Housing Scheme in Budaun. When asked if she received a house under the scheme and if she had to pay for it, the woman beneficiary replied in affirmative, adding that she had to pay Rs 30,000 as a bribe for the house.

Born on December 1, 1967, in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, Kashyap began his political journey under the BJP”s wings. Kashyap has been an active participant in several party activities and campaigns in the state.
