While addressing a press conference on Monday, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati launched a scathing attack on Samajwadi chief, Akhilesh Yadav calling him a chameleon who changes attitude towards BSP and misleads regarding the INDIA alliance. She also announced that her party will go solo in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“BSP will not be a part of any alliance and will contest the elections on its own in Lok Sabha polls,” Mayawati announced.
Mayawati said that she has decided to not to join with any of the alliances- the INDIA block or the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The BSP leader who served as the 18th chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, turned 68 years old on Monday. She during her press conference said has no plan to retire from politics. And their experience with alliance was never beneficial and suffered losses forming alliance.
“For this reason, most of the parties in the country want to form an alliance with BSP. An alliance can be considered after the elections. If possible, BSP can extend its support after the elections…our party will fight the elections all alone,” Mayawati said.
Mayawati lashed out at Samajwadi Party and Congress and said that they are part of big businessmen. “BSP is the only party in the entire country that runs on the laws and regulations made by Baba Saheb. Congress is in favor of BJP and its allies, big businessmen. The most backward people are not getting their rights and are not getting the benefits of reservation. There is an appeal to all the people to join BSP and take it to power, so that their rights can be given. SP had tried to confuse BSP by giving statements, this needs to be avoided” she said.
She then added that media speculated her retiral, when she declared her nephew, Akash Anand as her political successor. “I will continue to work towards strengthening the party,” the BSP leader clarified.
The Bahujan Samaj (BSP) contested 2019 Lok Sabha election in alliance with Samajwadi Party.
