Congress candidate advocate Gowal Kagada Padavi has won from the Nandurbar Lok Sabha constituency. He has garnered 745,998 votes in the election. He won by a margin of 159,120 votes.
BJP candidate Dr Heena Vijarkumar Gavit has won from the constituency three times. Besides being a parliamentarian, Heena is a National Spokesperson of the BJP and has served as the Chairperson of the National Women Empowerment Committee.
Meanwhile, Congress candidate Gowal K Padavi is the 32-year-old practicing lawyer at the Bombay High court. Gowal hails from the tribal community and is the son of KC Padavi, MLA from Akkalkuwa in the Nandurbar district of Maharashtra. The Bahujan Samaj party has fielded Ananda Sukalal Koli.
Although so far tribal communities dominated the elections, the Maratha community also played a decisive role here.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Dr Heena Gavit representing BJP, became the youngest female MP by winning this seat for the first time. She has defeated veteran Congress leader and nine-time consecutive Lok Sabha winner Manik Rao Gavit. Heena Gavit received 5,79, 486 votes while Manik Rao Gavit of Congress got 4,72,581 votes. And the third position came Vasave Amit Sheklal with 12,133 votes.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, BJP’s Heena once again won the seat with 6,39,136 votes. KC Padvi of Congress came second with a total of 5,43,507 votes.
The trend shows that the Maha Vikas Agadhi has toppled the exit poll results and is leading in the state sweeping majority of the seats.
