Edited by Kabani R

Congress renamed the Bharat Nyay Yatra as the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said on Thursday that the march will now be called by the new name and it has been unanimously chosen by the Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge and all the leaders.

Addressing the Media, Jairam Ramesh said that like the impact Bharat Jodo Yatra has created, Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will also “prove to be transformative for our country”.

“During this visit, Rahul Gandhi will present his views on social, economic and political justice before the public,” he added.

The yatra will begin from Imphal, violence-hit Manipur’s capital, at 12 pm on January 14. Rahul Gandhi will cover the 6,700 kms and 110 districts over the course of 66 days. Thereby, the total distance has been extended from 6,200 kms to 6,700 kms.

From Manipur, the yatra will traverse through Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and went Bengal before entering central India.

The march will cover a distance of 1,000 kilometres in Uttar Pradesh, and 523 kilometres in West Bengal across seven districts in five days, Jairam Ramesh informed.

General Secretary also told that unlike the last time which was entirely a foot march, this time, the party will incorporate buses as well.

In the last time, Bharat Jodo Yatra started on September 7, and after having travelled 4,000 km and went on for 136 days, it had concluded on January 30 in Srinagar. The long foot march has covered 12 states and two Union Territories.
