Dr Dharamvira Gandhi Secures Victory In Patiala Lok Sabha Constituency, Defeating Preneet Kaur

Dr Dharamvira Gandhi, the veteran candidate of the India alliance procured a decisive victory against the BJP candidate Preneet Kaur in Patiala, Punjab. In an unexpected turn, seasoned politician Preneet Kaur of BJP trailed behind Dharamvir Gandhi of India Alliance. Kaur was trailing by 4,763 votes, while the BJP held the third position in Patiala, behind Congress and AAP.

A cardiologist turned politician, Gandhi won in 2014 with  AAP but later formed his party, finishing third in 2019. His political journey has been tumultuous, marked by his suspension from AAP in 2016 for rebelling against the party leadership. Gandhi’s career has also seen moments of conflict, such as an assault during his 2014 campaign, allegedly by a SAD Municipal Councillor. Later he joined the Congress in 2024.

In the 2019 General Elections, Preneet Kaur secured a decisive victory with 532,027 votes, defeating Surjit Singh Rakhra of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) by 162,718 votes.

However, recent reports from the election commission indicated a narrow loss for Preneet Kaur as the vote counting ended in Patiala. Dr Dharamvira Gandhi has secured a victory of 305616 with a margin of 14,831 marking a monumental triumph in the politics of the Patiala constituency.
