जीतेगा INDIA!— Jairam Ramesh (@Jairam_Ramesh) December 10, 2023
“The 4th meeting of the leaders of INDIA parties will be held on Tuesday, December 19th, 2023 in New Delhi at 3pm,” wrote Jairam Ramesh on his X handle on December 10. “Judega Bharat, jeetega INDIA,” added the Congress leader. This is expected to be a crucial meeting for the INDIA bloc, as seat-sharing is likely to be discussed ahead of the general elections in 2024. Notably, this meeting was convened after the Congress party suffered defeats in the recently concluded State Assembly elections. The poor performance of the Congress in the Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh assembly elections was severely criticised by its allies.
The INDIA bloc, consisting of 26 political parties, has held three meetings so far. The first meeting was held on June 23 in Bihar’s Patna, and the second meeting was held in Bengaluru on July 17–18. The mega opposition alliance convened its third meeting on August 31 and September 1 in Mumbai. After the last meeting in Mumbai, the opposition bloc announced a central coordination committee consisting of 13 members from its constituent parties. On that occasion, they also passed a resolution to jointly contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. The opposition alliance was constituted under the leadership of the Indian National Congress to jointly take on the ruling BJP at the Centre in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
