After the Indian National Congress (INC) witnessed a complete comfortless performance in the concluded legislative assembly elections in four of the five states, the West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar were said to skip the upcoming INDIA alliance meeting. The meeting will be held at the residence of Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi on December 6, Wednesday.

As the New Indian Express quoted the Janata Dal (United) resources, the Bihar CM was suffering from viral fever these days and was taking rest as per the advice of his doctors. Two other leaders were expected to attend the meeting instead of Nitish Kumar – JDU’s National President Rajiv Ranjan and Bihar’s Water Resources Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha. Nitish Kumar was seen not attending any public functions these days and skipped the Rajgir Mahostav in Nalanda district last week.

Earlier, the West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) leader Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav have also hinted at not attending the meeting, that will formulate strategies for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. According to Mamata Banerjee, she was not informed about the meeting previously.

“I do not have any information regarding the meeting. I already have programmes to attend in north Bengal during that period”, said Ms Banerjee adding that she would have rescheduled her other programmes if the details of the INDIA meeting were communicated earlier. “We would have definitely gone, but we have not received any information”, she said.

The Trinamool Congress launched several attacks on Congress previously also after the Congress lost power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, and became unable to grab Madhya Pradesh, even several conditions were in favor for them.

The Congress on Sunday faced a near-wipe out in the Hindi heartlands and signaled of the urgent need to redraw its strategies for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The grand old party succeeded in Telangana, but lost to BJP in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.

The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance(INDIA) is an opposition front constituted under the leadership of Congress to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. There are 28 parties included in the alliance, namely All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Am Aadmi Party (AAP), Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, etc.

As per the exit poll, the Congress was expected to win in Chhattisgarh; however, when the election results trend, the grand old party of India is trailing behind the BJP in the state. Only in Telangana could the party hold the dominant position, with a 58-seat lead.
