Rathin Chakraborty Starts Campaigning In Howrah

Edited by Uzma Parveen

Rathin Chakraborty has started his campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls after he was nominated by the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) to run for the elections from Howrah Constituency. Rathin Chakraborty offered prayers at Siddheswari Kali Temple in Howrah city in the morning before starting his campaign along with party supporters.

Rathin won the civic election with TMC in 2013. He later joined the BJP in 2021 ahead of state assembly polls after leaving TMC and fought for the election from the Shibpur constituency on April 10, 2021. The assembly seat is reserved for the General category. However, he lost the election to AITC Manoj Tiwary

As per the information given on National election watch, Rathin Chakraborty is a graduate with 16 crore income revealed and zero criminal cases.

After getting nominated for the election he said, “Howrah hasn’t seen civic elections in 10 years and it has borne the brunt of pollution at this time”.

A poll was conducted on Reddit among Howrah people, in which questions were asked like, what do you think about Dr. Rathin Chakroborty as a candidate? Do you think, he can give a tough competition to TMC? People gave mixed reactions and one of the users mukherjee4u wrote, “He lost in the last assembly election against Manoj Tiwari. I don’t think he is the right choice for BJP. Howrah is a stronghold for TMC.”

“This Lok Sabha constituency has 7 assembly segments, Bally, Howrah Uttar, Howrah Madhya, Howrah Dakshin, Shibpur, Sankrail, and Panchla. Among these BJP has a good presence in Bally, Howrah Uttar, and Howrah Madhya. Strangely, the left front has a good presence in Panchla. So, I think Baishali Dalmiya (Bally) or Sanjay Singh (Howrah Madhya) would have been a better choice for the BJP. TMC shall field Aroop Roy who has a very strong hold in Howrah. So, I don’t think Rathin Chakraborty has any chances in Howrah”, the user added.

TMC has fielded Prasun Banarjee from Howrah against Rathin Chakraborty.
