Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Lok Dal Ink Deal For Elections

Samajwadi Party (SP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has come together for an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“Congratulations to everyone on the alliance of Rashtriya Lok Dal and SP! Let us all unite for victory!,” Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav wrote on X.

Congress is currently undergoing seat sharing talks with SP. They are all part of INDIA alliance bloc. As per the reports from Wednesday, Congress has asked 20 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh from SP, which the latter found “unreasonable”.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav told reporters that discussions regarding seat-sharing within the opposition”s INDIA bloc would carry on smoothly. “We have discussions today between Congress and SP on who will contest how many seats in the INDIA alliance. I am confident that the sharing of seats will be proper. The Samajwadi Party, Congress, and our allies together will defeat the BJP in Uttar Pradesh,” PTI quotes as Samajwadi Party chief is saying.

The talks are progressing, some leaders reports. Since Mayawati has announced BSP”s decision to contest alone in the election, the grand old party is focused on forming a grand alliance in UP so that it could give BJP a tough fight.

Uttar Pradesh constitutes the highest Lok Sabha seats in the country, 80. In 2019 Lok Sabha Polls, BJP has attained 49.56% vote share, BSP emerged second with 19.26%, where SP and Congress are at 17.96% and 6.31% respectively.
