The Rising Sun At Kanniyakumari Gave New Heights To My Thoughts: PM Modi's Musings After Meditation

As the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections conclude in the world’s largest democracy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares his reflective thoughts following a three-day spiritual retreat in Kanniyakumari. In a heartfelt message to the nation, penned during his return flight to Delhi, PM Modi expressed profound emotions and insights gathered during his meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

“After a rigorous two-month-long election campaign, I embarked on a spiritual journey to Kanniyakumari. Today, as I return to Delhi, my mind is brimming with experiences and emotions. The fervour of the elections, the multitude of faces, the trust and affection of our Nari Shakti—all these left a deep impact on me,” PM Modi wrote.

He described how the heated political debates and the intense campaign trail’s pressures melted away during his meditation, leading to a sense of detachment and inner peace. “Meditation becomes challenging amidst such huge responsibilities, but the land of Kanniyakumari and the inspiration of Swami Vivekananda made it effortless. The rising sun at Kanniyakumari gave new heights to my thoughts, the vastness of the ocean expanded my ideas, and the expanse of the horizon continuously made me realize the unity, the Oneness, embedded in the depths of the universe.”

Reflecting on his long-standing connection with Kanniyakumari, PM Modi recalled the construction of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and his association with Shri Eknath Ranade. He emphasized the symbolic unity of Bharat, from Kashmir to Kanniyakumari, and the ideological confluence represented by the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Saint Thiruvalluvar’s statue, Gandhi Mandapam, and Kamarajar Mani Mandapam.

The Prime Minister highlighted Bharat’s historical role as a cradle of ideas and its ongoing journey with a sense of purpose. He underscored the global impact of Bharat’s governance model, from lifting millions out of poverty to pioneering digital inclusivity. “Bharat’s progress and rise are not just significant for our nation but also a historic opportunity for our global partners. Since the G20 success, the world envisions a bigger role for Bharat, acknowledging us as a strong and important voice of the Global South.”

Calling for a collective effort towards a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, PM Modi reiterated the need for comprehensive reforms and a spirit of Jan Bhagidari (public participation). He urged the nation to embrace positivity, redefine heritage with modern values, and dedicate the next 25 years to nation-building.

In conclusion, PM Modi expressed his unwavering faith in Bharat’s infinite potential, drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s vision and the energy of the nation. “Let us take swift steps together and create a Viksit Bharat,” he urged, encapsulating his meditative reflections into a powerful message of unity and progress.
