The press club of India expressed their concern regarding the raids that are being conducted on the houses of journalists. Soon after Delhi police raided the houses of several senior journalists on Tuesday, the Press Club of India announced its solidarity to the journalists. They have also asked for a proper explanation from the government. Press Club of India posted on X, “We are monitoring the developments and will be releasing a detailed statement.”

The PTI expressed their concern regarding the raids on journalists and writers associated with News click and posted on X.
The Press Club of India is deeply concerned about the multiple raids conducted on the houses of journalists and writers associated with #Newsclick.

The journalists including Abhisar Sharma, Bhasha Singh, Urmilesh, Prabir Purkaayastha, and Aunindyo Chakravarty were subjected to the raid. Apart from them, the writer Githa Hariharan, activist and historian Sohail Hashmi, and satirist and stand-up comic Sanjay Rajaura were also subjected to raids. As per the report, the raids were conducted by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police amidst allegations that the news portal NewsClick had received funding from China. Though no arrests have been reported, some among them were taken to police stations for questioning. The police have collected the laptops and mobile phones from few of the journalists during the raid.
