In the UK general election, the Labour Party secured victory by defeating Prime Minister Rishi Sunak‘s Conservative Party. Ever since Sunak conceded defeat, social media is flooded with comments targeting him. Users also bring Sunak’s Indian connection and bring it into memes. Rishi Sunak is married to Akshata Murty, daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and author-philanthropist Sudha Murty.

Narayana Murthy’s 70-hour workweek advice to boost up India’s economy has opened huge criticism and debates last year. As Rishi Sunak is currently facing an electoral defeat, Moorthy’s “70 hours work” again came to the forefront, and memes are aplenty on social media.

Sharing Narayana Murthy’s post, a user wrote: “My Son in Law didn’t listen to my advise of working 70 hours a week. See the results now.”

Another user shared a meme, with a title denoting “Real reason behind Rishi Sunak’s resignation:”

“Probably he didn’t work 70 hours a day, as prescribed by Pa in Law,” a user remarked.

“Is Sunak going to come back to India and work for 70 hours a day?,” a user asked.

Social media did not spare India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rishi Sunak’s defeat. Some users commented Modi as a “panauti,” a remark which he encountered earlier as well.

Referring Sunak’s loss in the election; “Now it is confirmed that Modi is an international panauti. Whoever Modi has joined hands with has lost the next election. Take Trump and RishiSunak for example,” an individual remarked.
