Narayan Murthy Buys Rs 50 Worth Flat In Bengaluru's Kingfisher Towers

Infosys founder Narayana Murthy has reportedly bought a luxury apartment in Kingfisher Towers in Bengaluru for Rs 50 crore and has set a new benchmark for residential property prices in the CBD area.

The four bedroom luxurious residence on the 16th floor spans approximately 8,400 square feet. Moreover, it comes with five dedicated car parking spaces.The deal sets the price at Rs 59,500 per square foot, making it one of the highest in the city’s upscale commercial center, according to a Times of India report.

As per reports, this new flat of Narayana Murthy was bought from a Mumbai based businessman, who had owned the property for nearly a decade. This deal follows previous high profile transactions in Kingfisher towers, including one where Sudha Murty, Murthy’s wife, bought a flat for Rs 29 crore on the 23rd floor four years ago. Other prominent residents include Biocon’s Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Karnataka Minister KJ George’s son, Rana George.

Kingfisher Towers comprises of 81 luxury apartments spread across three blocks on a 4.5-acre site. Each residence in the 34-storey structure averages 8,321 sq ft. he towers are built on land where Vijay Mallya’s ancestral home once stood. Prestige sold its share of 41 luxury apartments in Kingfisher Towers, a joint development executed between Prestige Group and Mallya in 2010. When the project was launched, apartments were sold at Rs 22,000 per sqft.

Notably, prominent business executives such as Kiran Mazumdar Shaw of Biocon, Sachin Bansal of Flipkart, Ananth Narayanan from Mensa Brands, and Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha reside in the wealthy residential areas. Each resident pays about ₹5 lakh in maintenance for a quarter. Two years ago, Karnataka energy minister KJ George’s son Rana George bought a flat valued at Rs 35 crore.
