BJP’s Chudasama Rajeshbhai Wins Junagadh With 5.8 Lakh Votes

Chudasama Rajeshbhai Naranbhai of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the Junagadh seat in Gujarat. This is the third consecutive term Chudasama has elected to Lok Sabha from Junagadh Lok Sabha constituency. According to the Election Commission data, Chudasama has won the seat with a margin of 1,35,494 votes, securing 5,84,049 votes.

Chudasama is the former Member of Gujarat Vidhan Sabha till 2014, then he was elected to the Lower House. The 32-year-old became the youngest MP from the state in 2014. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019 with 54.51 percent of vote share. Presently, he is the member of Standing committee on Chemicals and Fertilizers on Parliament of India.

The Congress candidate Jotva Hirabhai Arjanbhai has finished in the second position bagging 4,48,555 votes. Hirabhai is currently serving as the Vice President of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC). He has served as the leader of opposition of Junagadh and Gir Somnath district panchayat from 2010 to 2015. Earlier, he served as President of Veraval Youth Congress (1995-2000), Vice President of Junagadh District Congress Committee (2000-2005), President of Baxipanch department Junagadh DCC (2005-2010) and Executive Member of GPCC (2015-2018).

Junagadh parliamentary seat is the stronghold of BJP since 1991. The saffron party has secured success for seven consecutive terms, except in 2004. Congress has won the seat in 2004 by securing 50 percent of total vote share. Since 2014, Chudasama Rajeshbhai has increased the party’s vote margin to more than one lakh.
