Meta unveiled new features for Meta AI on WhatsApp which was announced at the Meta Connect event on Thursday. These updates enable users to interact with the AI chatbot in innovative ways making conversations more engaging and productive. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the users can now have real-time conversations with Meta AI using voice mode which is similar to ChatGPT. Users can ask the AI chatbot questions and receive instant responses by pressing the waveform button.
Meta AI can now also analyse images sent by users and provide answers to related questions. For instance, sending a picture of a dish can prompt Meta AI to provide detailed cooking instructions. Additionally, users can share photos with Meta AI and request edits such as removing unwanted people, changing backgrounds or object colours, and more. Also, Meta has now introduced “Imagine Me” on WhatsApp where the user can change their profile picture to any superhero or wonder-like character.

Meta stated that the chatbot having a celebrity voice will begin in the U.S. along with other English-speaking countries this week through the Meta platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. The upcoming feature will offer users an option to select a voice for Meta’s chatbot which is similar to ChatGPT digital assistant picking one from the list of five celebrities. The list includes Kristen Bell, John Cena, Judi Dench, Awkwafina and Keegan-Michael Key. Additionally, there will be other generic voice options as well.
Earlier this month, Meta unveiled tools and features in the settings to ensure the privacy and security of the users in WhatsApp groups. Once users are added to a new group, they can decide whether to leave or stay seeing the information the planform shows, including the data ‘who created the group, who added you, when it was created, and the descriptions.
