Why Al-Falah University Is Under Scanner After Delhi's Red Fort Blast?

Al-Falah University has come under attack by many media outlets and Hindutva groups for its alleged connections with three doctors arrested by investigation agencies and following the recent blast at Delhi’s Red Fort. Now, the university has issued an official statement denying any institutional connection with the three doctors.

Notably, a wave of media criticism and social media posts targeted the institution after the arrest of the doctors, namely Muzamil Shakeel  (Ganaie) (32) from Pulwama, Adeel from Wanpora in Kulgam, and Dr. Shaheen Saeed (40).

The alleged terror module was busted in Faridabad on Monday when authorities recovered 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate and other inflammable materials from two rented rooms belonging to Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, a Kashmiri doctor employed at Al-Falah Medical College. Reportedly, Dr. Shaheen is also alleged to be associated with the university.

The statement, released by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Bhupinder Kaur Anand while condemning the events, said the university was “deeply saddened and anguished by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemns the same”.

Meanwhile, the VC condemned defamation charges and said,  “Several online platforms are circulating baseless and misleading stories with a clear intent of maligning the reputation and goodwill of the university. We strongly condemn and categorically deny all such false and defamatory allegations”.

The three doctors were detained between October 30 and November 8 in connection with what police described as a “terror module” allegedly associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Anas Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH).

However, no official confirmation has been issued by the police and investigation agencies, while several media outlets have speculated that the arrests are allegedly connected to the recent Red Fort Blast case.

Al-Falah University started the MBBS course in 2016, and many of its graduates serve as resident doctors at the university’s hospital. Admissions are conducted via the Department of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Haryana.

As per the ABP News reports, the university website was hacked and was written with “such Radical Islamic universities are not allowed in Indian soil, if you want to live in India, live peacefully like others”.

According to NDTV, Al Falah allegedly hired Professor Nisar, sacked by J&K Lt Governor for terror activities, and who has now been absconding since the Delhi Red Fort Blast.
