The forest officials had last week rescued the baby elephant and reunited it with her mother after the locals found the elephant calf stranded alone and roaming around in the Pannimedu estate area in Tamil Nadu. After the Manambolly forest range officer, A Manikandan got the information about the stranded baby elephant, a team went to the spot and rescued the calf in hours.
The baby elephant was later taken to the reserve forest. Using the drone technology to locate the herd, from where the calf was separated, the officials could spot the herd and reunite the calf with its mother at Shola Forest. The forest department had since kept a watch positioning four teams to observe and ensure the safety of the calf.
However, the pleasant picture captured by the forest watch and shared by Supriya today showed the relaxing moments of the baby elephant taking a nap in her mother’s arms. Supriya had shared this news last week, thanking the range officer Manikantan and his team for their rescue efforts, noting that “the year ends on a heartwarming note.”
