Nepal men’s cricket team smashed a number of records on Wednesday during its Asian Games group match against Mongolia. Nepal re-wrote history by breaking a series of T20I records. Nepal became the first ever team to score 300 runs in T20I history. They put up an incredible score of 314/3 in 20 overs.
And this wasn’t it, Dipendra Singh Airee etched his name in the record books by scoring fastest ever T20I fifty in just 9 balls. He simply smashed the previous record set by legendry all-rounder Yuvaraj Singh in 2007 T20 World Cup. Yuvraj scored half century in 12 balls.
And that wasn’t the end of milestone, another batsman Kushal Malla’s phenomenal century shook the cricketing world. He scored the fastest T20 century in just 34 deliveries surpassing the record set by Indian captain Rohit Sharma and South African star batter David Miller. The latter smashed the record in 35.
Adding to the record, Dipendra Singh also set the record for highest strike rate in an innings. 520.00 is his strike rate. 19-year-old Kushal Malla is the second youngest batter to score a century in men’s T20Is. 26 sixes were hit by Nepal batters which makes them the only team to hit the greatest number of sixes in T20I.
The Nepal batters showcased their dominance in the game and left the bowlers completely awestruck. The impressive game put up by Nepal will always remain etched into the hearts of cricket fans.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced earlier that matches in the Asian games will be granted T20 status.
