German football giants Bayern Munich have rated India cricket superstar Virat Kohli as the cross-sports equivalent of their legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The Munich-based football club was quizzed by a user named, Dylan Powell on X, to name 2 athletes from different sports who are cross-sports equivalents to each other. In response, the six-time Champions League winner replied, “”Manuel Neuer, Virat Kohli.”

Kohli, who has the most ODI centuries to his name, is a sports icon in many countries. He is the most followed cricketer on Instagram which shows the admiration he gets from the fans. The former India captain won the World Cup in 2011 and was a member of the team which reached the 2024 World Cup final.

Individually, he has plenty of records and milestones to his name, including the fastest batter to reach 13000 international runs, most fifties in T20 career, most player of the series awards in the shortest format, fastest to 3500 runs in T20s, and most player of the series awards across formats.

Neuer, on the other hand, has won the German league 11 times with Bayern Munich. He was named in the UEFA Champions League squad of the season in 2013–14, 2015–16, and 2019–20 and named the UEFA Champions League goalkeeper of the season in 2019-20. The 37-year-old was named the BEST FIFA Men”s Goalkeeper in 2020 and remains the first choice goalkeeper for Bayern Munich since joining the club in 2011.
