Caitlin Clark rewrote history on Sunday by breaking the 54-year-old record of late Pete Maravich when she made two free throws after a technical foul was called in the No.6 lowa’s game against No.2 Ohio State. After achieving this precious milestone, she became the all-time NCAA Division I scoring leader.

Congratulating Caitlin, President Joe Biden wrote on X, “Congratulations to Caitlin Clark on making history as the NCAA all-time leading scorer. With 3,685 points and counting, you’ve made your school proud.”

Caitlin Clark has emerged as the biggest name in all of college basketball. After breaking the record, she stood on the field with not much reaction. Later only during halftime, she disclosed the fact that she wasn’t aware of breaking the record.

The Hawkeyes point guard has 3,685 points, steering clear of Maravich in the standings. Clark has previously broken Lynette Woodward’s 3,649 points women”s basketball record in the previous game.

Surprisingly, it didn’t matter to the star that she had made history with two free throws rather than a half-court logo 3-pointer. “That’s like the hardest thing to do in basketball is to make free throws with nobody (around you) at the free-throw line,” she said.

Clark on Thursday announced that she would enter the 2024 WNBA draft and skip the fifth year of eligibility available to athletes who competed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clark has in total at least 30 points from 55 games, the most of any player in men’s or women’s college football over the last 25 years.
